Karmic intensity! Eclipse activation by Mercury & Mars! General weekly horoscope (August 9th-15th)

I know what you’re thinking: “When is this intense energy going to start fading, Theodora”? Well, 2021 is an intense year in itself with several peak moments, and this week, we’re in for another ride!
But guess what? If you’re a regular reader of mine and even a client (thank you so much for trusting my work, by the way!), you have the tools to help you navigate these uncertain times. And the best part of it all? You’re also working on your personal growth and the evolution of your soul at the same time! Isn’t this truly amazing?
Anyways, let’s dive into this week’s general horoscope!
- We start the week with a karmic oomph as we’re still under the influence of the dramatic New Moon in Leo and the Lion’s Gate Portal’s energy (if you haven’t checked last week’s horoscope, you may do so here)!
Not only that, but the super-charged Leo energy with the Moon, Sun and Mercury in this sign is forming a karmic aspect (a YOD) with Neptune and Pluto throughout the entire week! The heart (Leo) is hungry for more, especially with Pluto involved. When a YOD is formed, fated events are bound to happen; God’s in charge here, not us. This type of energy can feel very confusing and intense. We’re torn between surrendering to the divine (Neptune) and staying in control (Pluto).
Where does the answer lie? Well, it lies in our hearts and minds; they’re aligned through this aspect. It’s the hydra that fights alongside the lion now; both the ego and the heart are working together. Trust them.
On a more practical level, such an aspect can bring information about past events and people that will require you to make a final judgement – the one that your heart truly wants.
This energy will be most challenging for Leo, Aquarius, Scorpio and Taurus.
Gemini, Libra, Sagittarius and Aries will be supported in their creative endeavours, romantic relationships, and relationships with their children, and feel more energised.
- Also, on Monday, August 9th, Venus in Virgo (its fall/weakest position) will be opposing Neptune retrograde in Pisces. This is a tense aspect adding even more confusion and murkiness to the above-mentioned YOD energy. Impulsive decisions in relationships and financial matters are to be avoided at all costs here. On the other hand, this is an extremely auspicious time for inspiration in any artistic work you may be doing.
Virgo, Pisces, Sagittarius and Gemini should be most cautious with this energy.
Cancer, Scorpio, Capricorn and Taurus will have the opportunity to strike the right balance in their relationships and finances.
However, from August 10th until August 13th (exact on August 12th), Venus will also trine Pluto. This is harmonious and powerful energy to strengthen and deepen our existing relationships. This supporting aspect will give us the ability to be vulnerable and transparent with confidence. This is a wonderful time for our attractions to rise in intimacy, love, closeness, and finances.

Capricorn, Virgo, Taurus, Scorpio and Pisces will benefit the most from this aspect.
- On August 10th, Mercury in Leo will oppose Jupiter retrograde in Aquarius. This is another challenging aspect. Here, the mind can get overloaded with original and innovative ideas, especially when it comes to past projects you’ve started but couldn’t finish for lack of inspiration or information. Well, guess what? Exciting inspiration and information will be coming your way! If you get overwhelmed with all these ideas, write them down.
There’s also the risk of impulsive communication and over-excitement, so do your best to stay pragmatic and grounded.
Leo, Aquarius, Scorpio and Taurus should remain careful and examine thoroughly any ideas or information that may come their way.
- The nodes of the Moon are mathematical points where eclipses happen. The entire week, Mars in Virgo will be squaring the nodal axis (North Node in Gemini and South Node in Sagittarius), with this challenging aspect becoming exact on August 11th. In astrology, whenever Mars aspects the nodal axis, it activates eclipse energy back again. Eclipses’ effects last up to 6 months.
Mars and the North Node’s dispositing/ruling planet, Mercury, will enter its exaltation sign – Virgo – on August 11th-12th (depending on your time zone) and remain in this sign until August 30th. Here, Mars will be activating by a square the lunar eclipse we had last year on November 30th, in 8°38′ of Gemini. Mercury will also square and activate the same eclipse on August 14th-16th (the square becomes exact on August 15th).
What does all this mean? Well, 1st of all, this means that the energy will be tense. Since Mercury and Mars will be involved, we can expect the revelation of challenging information that will spark violent reactions in our personal lives and around the world. Think back to what you were completing/ending around November 30th, 2020 (give it 10 days before and 10 days after). Whatever it was, it will be triggered again, requiring you to act rationally (Mercury rules our mind and communication, and is exalted, i.e. very strong, in Virgo).
What will be activated again on a mundane level? What kind of challenging information will come out and trigger intense/violent reactions?
Well, let’s take a look at some of the events that surrounded the lunar eclipse in Gemini that happened on November 30th, 2020:
- Covid-19 vaccines were put on the market (AstraZeneca, Pfizer, Moderna) and applied for an Emergency Use Authorisation to the European Medicines Agency, which we now know were approved by the latter.
- Russia began mass vaccination against COVID-19 with the Sputnik V candidate.
- Iran’s top nuclear scientist, Mohsen Fakhrizadeh, was assassinated near Tehran.
Koshobe massacre: Boko Haram jihadists attacked a farm in Jere, Nigeria, killing at least 43 people.
Three activists in Hong Kong were jailed for their roles in the 2019–20 Hong Kong protests, with Joshua Wong getting the heaviest at 13.5 months.
As you can see, the challenging information will be most probably related to the Covid vaccines, health passports and the protests that followed. There’s a risk of excessive violence, too, since, after all, the eclipse is triggered by the planet of war and aggression: Mars.
Remember, at its highest manifestation, Mars is the strategic warrior. Use your mind, not your volatile emotions, to guide you. Mercury, the ruling planet of Gemini and Virgo, is all about questioning things and getting the facts. Mars and Mercury will also be squaring the South Node in Sagittarius, which can intensify dogmatism. Stay away from that and stick to the facts. Don’t believe everything you hear and read.
This energy will be challenging for all of us, but particularly for Virgo, Gemini, Sagittarius and Pisces.
