Dear NightFall Astrology readers,
After several weeks of intense retrograde energy (6 retrograde planets!), the smoke is slowly but surely starting to fade away this week, with Mercury becoming visible after turning direct last Sunday and moving forward again after remaining stationary for four days. Not only that, the farthest (dwarf) planet in our solar system, Pluto, is finally stationing Direct after six months of backward motion, turning our deepest thoughts and emotions inwards for an intense reassessment and purging (also known as metamorphosis).
Being comfortable in your own skin and having clear communication is crucial for forming healthy interpersonal relationships. Hence, it’s no coincidence that the same week when esoteric and transformative Pluto turns direct, we’ll be having a Full Moon in Aries (the sign ruling our identity and drive)! All the work we’ve been doing on ourselves over the past six months will finally pay off.
So, in Pluto’s words, let’s “dive deep” into this week’s horoscope.
1. Mercury becomes visible:
On Monday, October 3rd, Mercury becomes visible to the naked eye until October 28th as a Morning Star linked to the archetype of the Greek God, Apollo, of the Sun and light, music and poetry, healing and plagues, prophecy and knowledge, order and beauty, archery and agriculture.
This will be an excellent period for starting new projects in writing, media, marketing, business, trade, sales, commerce, and learning skills. Gemini and Virgo people will be able to manifest better, feel stronger, and make an impact.
2. Mercury trine Pluto:
As messenger Mercury powers forward through Virgo until October 10th, it keeps the practical magic flowing. Since details have a funny way of slipping through the cracks during a retrograde, much of this week may be spent doing recon work.
October 4th through the 9th (exact on Thursday, October 6th) will be especially illuminating as Mercury trines (harmonious aspect) investigative Pluto retrograde in Capricorn. Want to cover ALL your tracks? Rather than just “fixing” things on the surface, dig for the deeper motivation that’s driving you to choose things that aren’t in your best interest. Simplifying complexities can also do wonders to ease stress in all areas of life. Alas, no one can say yes to every thrilling invitation. Set aside FOMO and figure out which activities will help you thrive. Then do those!
This transit will be most supportive of Capricorn, Virgo, Taurus, Scorpio, and Pisces.
3. Pluto stations Direct:
More unsolved mysteries clear up this Saturday, October 8th, as shadowy Pluto ends its annual retrograde in Capricorn. This period of soul-searching, which began on April 29th, may have brought some introspective insights. But brace yourselves! Pluto waking up from a retrograde is like a volcano going from “dormant” to “active.” Whatever’s been buried under the surface could bubble up like hot lava. Money, power and sex are Pluto’s domain, and some scandals might make headlines before the day is through. On a personal note, Pluto’s backspin may have left you stuck with stormier thoughts. As the dwarf planet shifts into drive for the coming seven months, you’ll be ready to tackle the tough stuff like processing grief or healing from compulsive behaviours and addictive tendencies.
Keep in mind that Pluto will remain stationary (appearing not to be moving from Earth’s perspective) until October 19th, which may intensify the emotional volcanic reactivations. During these upcoming couple of weeks, focus on the shadow work and personal growth you’ve been doing on yourselves during the retrograde period and the lessons you’ve learned. Avoid returning to toxic behaviours; it’s time to move forward now with your newly transformed selves!
Scorpio, Capricorn, Cancer, Aries, and Libra will feel Pluto stationing Direct most intensely.
4. Full Moon in Aries:
This Sunday, October 9th, at exactly 10:55 PM (CET), the year’s only Full Moon in 16°33’ of passionate powerhouse Aries supplies the juice to help you achieve a personal goal or to let your solo star shine.
Full Moons are always about releases, illumination, culmination, and endings. In the cardinal fire sign of Aries, we’re releasing unhealthy behavioural patterns in our relationships (whether it’s excessive ego or lack of self-confidence), which can be translated into standing up for ourselves and harnessing our ability to enter confidently into relationships, to be diplomatic and empathetic, and to listen. The spiritual warrior within us is standing proud of what he/she has achieved since the last New Moon in Aries that took place on April 1st.
A Full Moon is formed by an opposition (tense aspect) between the Moon and the Sun. On the one hand, we have the Sun in the second decan of Libra (its sign of fall, i.e. the Sun doesn’t operate well here as it rules our core identity and self-expression, and Libra (ruling relationships) is the sign opposite to Aries where the Sun is exalted) is linked to the 3 of swords Tarot card (or the Lord of Sorrow) representing heartbreak and betrayal. The Sun will be conjunct Venus indicating a smoothing over of the situation.
On the other hand, the Moon will be in the second decan of Aries, associated with the 3 of wands Tarot card (or the Lord of Virtue), representing acting virtuously and with integrity (the sextile to Saturn retrograde in Aquarius reinforces this attitude and behaviour). All of this put together paints the picture of someone violating your trust (especially male figures and leaders) in a particular situation (it doesn’t have to be necessarily romantic) and trying to smooth things over on their end. Still, we’re way over that because we’ve been working on healing our identity wounds and reconnecting with our self-confidence for the past six months. With Chiron retrograde (the wounded healer) conjunct the Full Moon, we may feel triggered and vulnerable but courageous enough not to let the situation get out of hand, thanks to the opposition to Venus, and Jupiter retrograde being in loose conjunction with the Full Moon. The closure will be very healing.
Moreover, this Full Moon’s sextile to Saturn retrograde echoes the new realisations and responsibilities (benefiting you and your tribe) you might have taken on during the New Moon in Aries when Venus, Mars and Saturn (direct) were conjunct in Aquarius. The seeds you had planted back then were mainly behind the scenes; with this Full Moon, their fruits will be in the limelight. However, it will be more like a milestone in the process rather than a final culmination. Why? 1st off, because sextiles are harmonious aspects that need a little more effort, unlike the easy-flowing trines; 2nd off, this Full Moon will be happening under the influence of 4 retrograde planets: Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune, alongside a stationary Pluto that can feel as if it were still retrograde. We’re still reviewing and evolving materially/physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.
The dispositing planet of this Full Moon, Mars in Gemini, is in a T-square (challenging configuration) with Mercury in Virgo (its exaltation sign) and Neptune retrograde in Pisces. So, the communication in the situation being illuminated or terminated will be unambiguous, but emotionally, people might have difficulty comprehending and digesting the rawness of it all. Thus, there’s a passive-aggressive tone to communications under this Full Moon; after all, emotions are always running high during Full Moons. However, a conservative/stoic stance will be upheld through it all, thanks to the sextile and trine to Saturn from both the Moon and the Sun, respectively.
Finally, 16 degrees is a Cancerian degree, meaning that there will be an emphasis on a liberating emotional release, leaving room for self-care and rebuilding confidence. Stand proud in the spotlight! You’ve come a long way!
Aries, Capricorn, Cancer, and Libra will be impacted by this Full Moon the most. Especially those of you who have your Sun, Moon, Ascendant, Descendant, Midheaven, IC or any other important planet or point in your chart around 16° of these signs (give or take 2-3 degrees).
Put yourself out there, unvarnished, fully authentic and 100 per cent amazing—as YOU define it!
