Dear NightFall Astrology readers,
This is the week when retrograde season officially begins with the last slower planet, Uranus, stationing and turning retrograde on August 20th and joining Jupiter, Saturn, Neptune and Pluto in the general introspective and retrospective energy for the next few months. Here’s your weekly horoscope.
- We start the week with Venus, the planet of beauty, love and relationships, diplomacy and harmony, entering Libra on Monday, August 16th. Venus’s positive qualities will be boosted in this sign as she naturally rules it; she feels at home there. Venus will remain in Libra until September 10th. This is an excellent time for any Venus-ruled activity such as redecorating, romantic encounters, and improving one’s finances (although on the flip side, money slips easily through our fingers when Venus is in Libra, so try your best to practice restraint when necessary and avoid compulsive shopping).
This transit will benefit Libra, Gemini, Sagittarius, Leo, and Aquarius the most.
Aries, Capricorn and Cancer should remain cautious with overspending and getting into unnecessary conflicts with their loved ones.
- On August 18th, Mercury and Mars will meet in exact conjunction in Virgo, energising our verbal punch. This can be a good time for sealing important negotiations in business matters as we’ll be more in touch with our authenticity and true self-worth thanks to the harmonious trine these 2 planets will be making to Uranus until August 21st. Beware of getting too nitpicky with Mars boosting exalted Mercury in Virgo. This is also great energy for getting into new unconventional diets or workout routines.
Virgo and Taurus are earth signs and are directly related to our material world. So, whatever material changes you decide to make, know that they’re divinely guided and will help you heal your identity and bring more stability for your future, as Mercury and Mars will be in a YOD with Saturn and Chiron throughout the entire week.
These alignments will be most beneficial for Virgo, Taurus, Capricorn, Cancer, and Pisces.
- On August 20th, the last of the slowest planets, Uranus, the king of the sky, will switch directions and start its retrograde motion until January 18th, 2022. Uranus turning retrograde in Taurus can mark a slowdown and even a halt in progress, especially in economic and financial matters. It’s time for reviewing whatever progress we’ve made in our personal lives and society! We’re in for a long period of intro and retrospection about our self-worth and our ascension towards our own true selves.
How well are we cooperating as humans? Since Uranus began its uncomfortable 8-year trek through Taurus in May 2018, there’s been a war between rapidly moving scientific developments and stubborn “old school” beliefs. Futuristic Uranus loves to push the envelope. Traditional earth sign Taurus wants things to stay the way they always have. Can you see the contradiction here? Uranus is, by definition, the planet of revolutionary change, innovation, and humanity! It rules Aquarius: the most futuristic sign of the zodiac! In Taurus, this planet is asking us to start elevating ourselves to our true self-worth first before elevating society as a whole.
Take a deep look at everything you’ve accomplished since January 2021. Is it good enough for you, or it needs some fine-tuning? Uranus’s retrograde period is perfect for this type of review. A word of caution, though: starting new business and personal relationships is to be avoided at this time. Health-wise, Uranus going retrograde can also cause nervousness and heightened tension. Hence, this retrograde period is better for inner changes rather than external ones. Uranus rules the nervous system: start that Yoga class, get into meditation, try some alternative medicine methods, explore mindfulness and personal development programmes and techniques.
This transit will be most challenging for Taurus, Scorpio, Leo, and Aquarius.
Virgo, Capricorn, Pisces, and Cancer will get the chance to look at their finances from a different perspective and even find innovative ways to be more resourceful.
Also, on the same day, the Sun in Leo will oppose Jupiter retrograde in Aquarius. The sun stands across the sky from Jupiter once a year, and this time this alignment is happening in these 2 signs with the Sun being on its throne: Leo. The Sun is our core identity, will, and courage, and they’re all enhanced by it transiting Leo currently. An opposition is a tense aspect; the right balance has to be found. Here, this alignment can translate into becoming overly optimistic about a vision for our own future that we’ve been having since Jupiter entered Aquarius in December of last year. The Sun illuminates everything it touches, and it’s bringing back into our consciousness this vision we’ve started working on, a vision that will concretise itself for us personally and collectively over the next 20 years; a new cycle that was started by Jupiter/Saturn conjunction we witnessed last December as well.
Don’t fall into the trap of excessive optimism, though, as you won’t probably be able to start implementing these new futuristic ideas and plans until Uranus, Aquarius’s modern ruler, turns direct again in January 2022. But meanwhile, all of us can review and study these ideas thoroughly and start building a concrete action plan with Saturn supporting us in its retrograde motion in Aquarius as well. This opposition can make us too starry-eyed and forget that every successful dream has hard work and a stable plan behind it. A vision without a concrete plan is nothing but wishful thinking.
This alignment will be most challenging for Leo, Aquarius, Scorpio, and Taurus.
- This expansion of innovative ideas, plans, and hard work will come into a culmination with the Full Moon in 29°37′ of Aquarius on August 22nd at 2:02 PM (CET)! This one’s the second in a rare, back-to-back pair in the sign of the Water Bearer that debuted with the July 23 full moon. Since then, we’ve been getting eye-opening messages about everything, from community collaborations to the ways we hold ourselves back from expressing our individuality. How can we enjoy our personal liberties while also being cooperative members of society? The unique balance point between “me” and “we” is one that Aquarius understands well. Have your cake, but feed others, too!
This time, we’re encountering the critical Anaretic degree (29°) again, setting the stage for an excessively dramatic completion, ending, culmination or lightning bolt-like realisation regarding the struggle we’ve been having, both personally and collectively, between the old and the new; a dance we’ve been dancing throughout all of 2021 with both dispositors (ruling planets) of this full moon, Saturn and Uranus squaring each other. We can hope for the results to be positive, though if we’ve put in the necessary effort, as the moon will be conjoining Jupiter, the planet of optimism, faith, luck and expansion.
A full moon is formed when the Sun and the Moon oppose each other at a 180° angle. Here, the Sun will be at 29° of Leo, too, conjoining the Royal Star “Regulus” – the heart of the Lion – highlighting again the tension between what our hearts want and what the collective (Aquarius) wants. The key here is to strike the right balance. The dark side of Leo is selfishness, Aquarius is the sign of friendship, and all of us know that it’s always lonely at the top. Whatever transpires for you individually during this full moon, know that true friendship will make your heart sing too.
On a more mundane level, because of the ongoing square (challenging aspect) between Saturn and Uranus, this Full Moon could trigger and expand the ongoing tensions between protesters and governments around the world regarding the various restrictions that continue to be imposed as a response to the current global health crisis. Saturn is restriction, and Uranus is freedom. The conflict is clear here, especially with the Moon opposing the Sun and Regulus, a star of the nature of Mars and Jupiter that can give violence, destructiveness, military honour of short duration, with ultimate failure, imprisonment, violent death, success, high and lofty ideals and strength of spirit.
Also, in mundane astrology, the Leo Constellation is associated with royal events, especially the ascension or death of kings and queens, the election or death of heads of state, assassinations, uprisings and massacres, currency and the stock exchange, the Vatican and European Union.
As you can see, “extreme” is the best adjective associated with this Full Moon for better or worse. Emotions always run high during a Full Moon, don’t take any impulsive actions. This is a time to withdraw and regenerate one’s energy.
This Full Moon will be most intense for Aquarius, Leo, Scorpio, and Taurus.
Gemini, Libra, Sagittarius and Aries can witness a rise in life due to their hard work and open-mindedness.
We end the week with the Sun entering Virgo on Sunday night, making it easier to embrace the concept of collective responsibility. This wellness-oriented solar cycle, which lasts until September 22, reminds us to make cleaner AND healthier choices, like buying organic and sustainably sourced goods that support local businesses. The best things in life might just be free, upcycled, bleached and swapped. Organisation reigns supreme during Virgo Season. If you have enough things, maybe it’s time to install clever storage solutions and shelving, so you actually know how to locate them when you want to use them!
This transit will support Virgo, Taurus, Capricorn, Scorpio and Cancer the most.
