Dear ARTEMIS Members,
This week, emotions will run high as we experience a lunar eclipse in Scorpio during Mercury retrograde in Taurus. However, rest assured that this energy will start dissipating this weekend and clear up in the second half of May. But be cautious of lies and deception in relationships as Venus in Gemini squares Neptune in Pisces.
Additionally, Pluto’s retrograde in Aquarius and Capricorn could bring about covert power plays in group dynamics. Nonetheless, we end the week on a sweet note with Venus entering cosy and sentimental Cancer.
Let’s delve deeper into the intricacies of these transits and uncover the hidden gems that will guide you through any obstacles that may come your way. So, without further ado, let’s explore this week’s celestial landscape and chart a course towards a more prosperous future!
I. Pluto stations retrograde:
Pluto’s five-month retrograde period commenced on May 1st, and the months ahead may hold significant changes in group dynamics. The retrograde movement of Pluto suggests a period of deep reflection and reevaluation. This powerful planet of transformation and renewal may signal a need to examine relationships and the power dynamics that shape them. During this period, we may feel the pull to look within ourselves and reassess our personal goals and values.
In traditional astrology, Saturn is considered the natural ruler of both Aquarius and Capricorn. Saturn’s influence on these signs is known to be one of discipline, structure, and authority. This influence may suggest a time of introspection and taking responsibility for our actions. This period may call for developing greater discipline and self-control to achieve our goals.
While Pluto’s retrograde is a time for self-reflection, it is essential to be mindful of the potential risks involved. It is easy to become preoccupied with our own ambitions, leading to conflicts and power struggles within our relationships. We must also be vigilant against manipulation and deceit from individuals with hidden agendas.
To navigate this retrograde period, it is crucial to approach group dynamics with caution and maintain a sense of self-awareness. We may need to take a break from group projects or collaborations if we are unable to find common ground with others. It is important to take advantage of this time to focus on personal growth and introspection.
In sum, Pluto’s retrograde is a time of both challenge and reward. Through discipline and self-awareness, we can navigate this period of deep reflection and emerge with a clearer sense of our purpose and goals. By being mindful of the potential pitfalls and staying focused on our personal growth, we can emerge stronger and more determined than ever before.
Scorpio, Taurus, Aquarius, and Leo will most intensely feel Pluto’s backspin through Aquarius. Then once it retrogrades back into Capricorn, it’ll be Cancer, Aries, Libra, and Capricorn’s turn.
II. Lunar Eclipse in Scorpio:
Late October 2022 marked the beginning of a tumultuous time in your life, but fear not, for this is likely when it will come to a close. On May 5th, 2023, at precisely 7:34 PM (CET), a lunar eclipse will occur at 14 degrees and 58 minutes in the fixed signs of Scorpio and Taurus. Eclipses are known to be the catalysts for disruptive events, and this one will be particularly powerful due to its placement in the dependable and sturdy fixed signs.
Lunar eclipses are always full moons but carry even greater significance and impact. The effects of this eclipse will last for six months, gradually phasing out the old and ushering in the new. However, with fixed signs, change does not come easily, making this disruption all the more groundbreaking.
Check your Scorpio house for potential massive changes or pivotal endings. The next six months will see the beginning of the end as you transition into the next phase of your life, replacing or continuing off of what came before. The lunar eclipse of May 5th, 2023, will be a defining moment of the year, shaping our memories of world dynamics. This period will likely see the wrapping up of various ongoing matters and proceedings, such as those surrounding the FTX scandal, which occurred in the wake of the previous eclipse.
As the lunar eclipse falls under the intense and emotional energy of the fixed water sign of Scorpio, we can expect a profound emotional release. This celestial event may present itself as grieving, letting go of emotional baggage, or cutting ties with toxic relationships. However, Scorpio is known for its reluctance to release emotional attachments, so this process may prove to be difficult. Nonetheless, this lunar eclipse offers a powerful opportunity for purging and renewal, allowing us to shed what no longer serves us and embrace a brighter future.
Adding to the significance of this event, the lunar eclipse is occurring in the second decan of Scorpio, which is associated with the Six of Cups tarot card. This card, also known as “The Lord of Pleasure”, represents a positive and fulfilling emotional exchange. Although Mars traditionally rules Scorpio, this decan also has a co-ruler, the Sun, which lends a lighter and more energetic influence. Thus, this card implies that the relationship or dynamic in question has served its purpose and is now ready to come to an end.
This emotional exchange need not be a romantic one. In fact, for most of us, it is unlikely to be so unless you have a Taurus or Cancer rising in your chart. However, with the Six of Cups tarot card representing a pleasurable and social exchange, it is clear that we have had an intense and dynamic interaction that has now run its course. It is time to let go, move on from what is weighing us down, and embrace the opportunities that await us in the future.
The Sun’s current position in the opposite sign of Taurus, exactly 180 degrees away, heralds an interesting astrological event that will take place during lunar eclipses or full moons. The Sun’s conjunction with Uranus and Mercury lends this eclipse extraordinary dynamism and depth. Notably, the Sun’s placement in Taurus signifies our focus on stability and groundedness, especially in relation to reciprocation and mutual benefit. However, with the full moon lunar eclipse in Scorpio, the situation on that side is fraught with volatility, while the other side is comparatively stable and calm.
In conjunction with Uranus and Mercury, the planets of chaos, disruption, and communication, respectively, this dynamic is driven by sudden and erratic behaviour, along with abrasive and unexpected communication from another party. Our response is to phase out or remove ourselves from the situation, as the other party’s communication does not align with our expectations, prompting us to exit. This does not necessarily imply violence or unprofessional behaviour but is undoubtedly disruptive.
The Sun’s position in the second decan of Taurus, also known as the decan of Success or “Lord of Success”, is highly auspicious. The Six of Pentacles tarot card is associated with this decade, which is co-ruled by the Moon, although Venus traditionally rules Taurus. This Deccan’s rulership by the Moon and its exaltation in Taurus indicates a fortunate shift towards material success, whereby we have achieved our goals and reached new heights. As a result, this eclipse does not seem like a negative event or one that would leave us feeling devastated. Rather, we have accomplished our purpose, and it is now time to move on to the next phase of our journey.
In sum, the eclipse’s public perception would be more akin to a mutual separation than a violent divorce, and people may be curious about what the future holds for us. Overall, the Sun’s position in Taurus, its conjunction with Uranus and Mercury, and the Decan of Success all suggest that we can look forward to a favourable outcome in our journey towards success and stability.
The current astrological configuration suggests a sustainable cycle of ebb and flow, rather than a traumatic experience. However, the balance of this cycle has been disturbed, and it is time to re-centre. Mercury’s conjunction with the North Node implies that our departure is due to sudden abrasive communication from someone else. This communication may propel us in a new direction, pushing us to make a change.
The Venus-Neptune square aspect indicates that we may have been delusional in our relationship or dynamic, idolising someone and seeing only what we wanted to see. The aspect shows the rose-coloured glasses coming off and the purity we had imagined not being there. Nonetheless, Jupiter’s sextile with Venus allows wisdom to emerge, enabling us to see the bigger picture.
Despite being in its fall, Mars in Cancer allows us to be compassionate and empathetic, even though we may not be the most direct and assertive with our actions. Moreover, Jupiter’s superior square with Mars brings optimism and wisdom into our actions, propelling us forward towards a brighter future.
I would advise against practising any rituals, especially during an eclipse. The energy surrounding eclipses can be likened to a raging wildfire, and attempting to manifest during this time is akin to lighting a match within that wildfire – not only will it fail to produce the desired outcome, but it may also result in unintended consequences. While I understand that some individuals may still choose to proceed despite this warning, I caution that any manifestations launched during an eclipse are likely to come with a significant amount of disruptive chaos that can have far-reaching consequences.
It is important to note that being born under an eclipse or launching a manifestation during this time does not make you a bad person, nor does it necessarily mean that your manifestation will fail. However, it is important to acknowledge that eclipse manifestations often come with significant collateral damage and consequences that should be taken into consideration before proceeding. If you have any thoughts or feelings about this eclipse, please feel free to share them in the comments below.
This lunar eclipse will be felt most strongly by Scorpio, Taurus, Leo, and Aquarius, especially if you have any significant placements around 14 degrees (give or take 1-5 degrees) of these signs.
III. Venus enters Cancer:
On Sunday, May 7th, the stars align for a sentimental and heartfelt time. Venus, the planet of love and affection, will make her presence known in Cancer, the nurturing and emotional sign of the zodiac. This celestial event encourages us to embrace romantic gestures, such as holding hands, writing love notes on actual paper, and sharing long hugs for at least twenty oxytocin-releasing seconds.
Adding to this affectionate atmosphere is lusty Mars, who is currently riding shotgun in Cancer until June 5th. This dynamic duo suggests that the sweetest spot for love and passion is at home, where intimacy can flourish in the warmth of familiarity. For those who need an incentive to serve breakfast in bed, this is it. Let your heart and creativity guide you, whether it’s lemon ricotta pancakes or chocolate-dipped strawberries and champagne.
Romantic gestures could lead to deeper commitment, such as trading keys, apartment hunting, or adding a new family member (pets count!). However, for the singles among us, this period may be accompanied by shyness or sensitivity when meeting new people. In such cases, it’s suggested to lean on your inner circle and let them make introductions. Simply showing up at picnics and barbecues could create the opportunity for genuine and heartfelt connections to take root.
As Venus nestles into sentimental Cancer and Mars keeps us warm and cosy, we are invited to revel in the sweetness of love and the power of intimacy. By embracing romantic gestures and allowing ourselves to be open to love, we may find ourselves in the midst of profound and transformative experiences.
This transit will be most auspicious for Cancer, Aries, Libra, and Capricorn.
