Dear NightFall Astrology readers,
For the past month, Gemini’s solar flares have given us all a case of astrological ADHD. Focusing intensely on anyone’s words, much less remembering what events we promised we’d show up at, has been…trying. But now, the friends-and-family reunions begin. With Cancerian warmth nurturing our souls, nesting instincts will be on high alert for the next 30 days, with the official start on June 21st when the Sun enters Cancer (summer solstice). Our pairing instincts will switch from slow and steady Taurus to light-hearted and curious Gemini (yes, it’s kindred spirit energy again!), but not without a deep check-up first of existing or old relationships first!
All in all, we’re looking at a much lighter week than the previous one. Here in France, and in 129 countries around the world, we’ll be celebrating on the summer solstice “Music Day” (“La Fête de la Musique”), where citizens and residents are urged to play music outside in their neighbourhoods or in public spaces and parks. Free concerts are also organised. The first all-day musical celebration on the day of the summer solstice was originated by Jack Lang, then Minister of Culture of France, and Maurice Fleuret; it was celebrated in Paris in 1982. Music Day later became celebrated in 120 countries around the world.
After this cultural reminder, let’s dive into this week’s horoscope.
1. Mercury (out-of-shadow) sextile Jupiter:
Aren’t you all excited about Mercury’s retrograde and shadow periods being over? Has clarity been rapidly coming back to your minds and communications since Sunday? Mercury in Gemini brings fast thinking naturally, but we’ll be getting the full picture at a finger snap thanks to the gorgeous sextile it’ll be making during the first three days of the week (from June 19th until June 22nd (exact on June 20th)) to joyful and optimistic Jupiter in Aries!
This is excellent energy for focusing on long-term goals and projects, seeing and seizing more opportunities, good judgement, and expanding your knowledge and outlook. This sextile pushes us towards collaborating with others and is excellent for outdoor activities, business, and travel. It’s also favourable for education, legal and international affairs. Some beneficial information could come through.
This aspect will be most supportive of Aries, Leo, Sagittarius, Gemini, and Aquarius.
2. The Sun enters Cancer (summer solstice), and Venus trine Pluto:
Needless to say that the energy of the summer solstice’s astrological chart will be impacting us for the rest of the summer. How are things looking?
Well, apart from June 21st being the longest day of the year (something which all of you know, I’m sure), this day also marks a new beginning in the Cardinal Water sign of Cancer. Cardinal signs are all about initiation; in a way, we’re initiating our summer (the funnest season for most people) according to the solstice’s chart. So, what kind of initiations are going through our collective consciousness (the Sun)? Cancer is all about home, family, our roots, heritage, hometowns, home countries, real estate, and above all, our comfort and emotional stability.
This is a time to give your innermost circle priority on the calendar. Bonus if that involves a beach vacation or whipping up home-cooked meals together! Speaking of which, does your home feel like a haven? And how about your workspace? Take time to personalise all your square footage with sweet and cosy touches. The longest, lightest day of the year is a decisive moment of personal illumination. (And a day of deep introspection for our friends below the equator.) Tender emotions that have been buried beneath our shells are ready to be examined—with journals, supportive friends, and maybe a great therapist. For the coming four weeks, creative bursts could give birth to transcendent works of art. Set up an inspiring “studio” and be a vessel for the muse.
Cancer is ruled by the Moon, so we’ll have to look at the Moon’s position on the 21st. The Sun will enter Cancer at exactly 11:14 AM (CET). Not only that, but Venus, at the end of its transit in its home sign of Taurus, will be making a wonderful minor Grand Trine (through its sextile to Pluto retrograde in Capricorn) to the Moon. The Moon would have moved into another Cardinal sign (a fire one this time): Aries, boosting the initiatory energy (Aries is the first sign of the zodiac). So we’re filled with this fiery but also gentle energy of new beginnings! This brings immediately to mind the Chariot card in Tarot: we’re all fired up to get into the driver’s seat of our lives!
With the Moon in Aries being at the apex of the minor Grand Trine configuration, the sextile between Venus and Pluto is fueled by strong emotions. Venus in Taurus sextile Pluto retrograde in Capricorn is asking us to evaluate deeply our relationships (especially at work and with our superiors). We can also experience strong attraction toward someone new and increased passion and devotion with our significant others for those of us who are in a relationship.
We can also feel a strong desire for something and clear ourselves of unhealthy/toxic emotions. This aspect gives laser-sharp focus and intuition, so we’ll be able to feel what people are trying to hide from us.
Finally, this is excellent energy for successful financial decisions, negotiations with influential people, bank operations and investments, and positive transformation of our appearance.
The summer solstice energy will be most auspicious for Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces, Capricorn, Taurus, and Virgo.
3. Venus enters Gemini:
On Wednesday, June 22nd, Venus sets our systems to pairing mode until July 17th/18th. The search for kindred spirits is on—but not necessarily the marrying kind. Gemini governs our peers and platonic pals, but when Venus travels through this sign once every year, love may be found in the friend zone. If you feel attraction bubbling up, exploring can be fun…with a caveat. Will a night of fooling around bring drama to your social circle or break up the band? Think carefully before letting the love goggles blind you to potential collateral damage. If you are with a “happily ever after” plus-one, bring more playfulness to your time together. Take the classic advice of putting a weekly (or more often) date night on the calendar, switching off as planners and surprising each other with the agenda. Pro tip: Plan outings that spark dialogue!
Venus’ transit through Gemini will be most beneficial for Gemini, Libra, Aquarius, Leo, and Aries.
“Love looks not with the eyes, but with the mind,
And therefore is wing’d Cupid painted blind.” William Shakespeare, A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
Have a magical beginning of summer and happy birthday to all of my Cancers out there!
