Dear NightFall Astrology readers,
Do you have the courage to leave your comfort zone and connect with your true and unapologetic self-worth? From this week until the end of August, we will feel as if we were at an airport, and anything could happen there, right? This is the one type of place in the world where we expect the unexpected, and there’s a whisper of a thrill every time we arrive or depart.
And yes, courage and strength will be needed with the upcoming Mars/Uranus/North Node conjunction in Taurus that will catapult us into the future. But change, especially for the fixed signs (Leo, Taurus, Scorpio, and Aquarius), is a tricky equation to solve, but not an impossible one. Think of all of the events (positive and negative) that will surround this conjunction as a needed disruption to get all of us out of our personal and collective ruts. Many aspects of the status quo aren’t working anymore: from the health crisis to the rampant inflation and natural disasters… All of it is linked to outdated methods, and things won’t get better with quick fixes. Ingenious ideas must be implemented for the long haul.
Despite this extreme energy, we’ll have the necessary strength and optimism with the beautiful New Moon in Leo, ushering in new beginnings in our hearts, our willpower, our capacity to take risks in life, and re-awakening our inner child and creativity alongside our willingness to get in the limelight. Leo season marks the middle of summer: it represents life, heat, and energy that rises and lasts, and there’s pure, vibrant creativity and fun to this sign.
Here’s your weekly horoscope.
1. Mercury square Mars:
From July 25th until July 28th, Mercury in Leo will square (challenging aspect) Mars in Taurus. The negative side of this tense energy can bring about anxiety, stress, over-analysing and over-thinking about situations, impatience, impulsivity, increased verbal punch, arguments and quarrels, accidents, lack of mental clarity and focus, and delays in communication and transportation.
On the positive side, it can manifest as increasing concentration and focus alongside more energy for any kind of physical activity.
This aspect will be most challenging for Taurus, Leo, Aquarius, and Scorpio.
2. The New Moon in Leo and Jupiter stationing retrograde:
a) The New Moon in Leo:
Fierceness returns with a vengeance this Thursday, July 28th, at 7:55 PM (CET), as the annual New Moon in Leo, officially inaugurating Leo season, plugs us into our own personal power grids.
It’ll be happening at 5°39’ of Leo in the first decan of this sign, which is ruled by Saturn and represented by the “5 of wands” card in Tarot. This indicates structured creativity, being judged while we perform, and not everyone will necessarily approve of us even though we’re the best entertainer in the world. An example of this decan would be a reality show: we’re inspired to take on this new beginning, but we should understand that harsh judgement comes along with it. There is no victor without a tournament first!
Self-expression remains the order of the day, especially since this New Moon forms a free-flowing trine to Jupiter (retrograde) in Aries. No more bottling up your authentic style or telling people what they want to hear at the expense of your inner truth. Go back and clue others in (lovingly, please) if they missed any of your memos. Does the “problem” lie within your presentation? If your messages keep getting lost in translation, get to work on your branding. The Leo New Moon traffics in first impressions, which begs the question, how do you want to shine in the world? Do one thing to put your talents on display or draw attention to your gifts. Permission to graciously self-promote and get old opportunities back? Granted!
Romantically, the Leo New Moon opens hearts and lifts voices. If you’ve been suppressing your loving feelings, just wait! They could come rushing out before you can stop them—especially since candid Jupiter in Aries is in a supportive sync-up. Ready to start (or expand) your fam? These fertile moonbeams could start the clock on babymaking, adoption or IVF efforts. Single and looking? Pump up your efforts over the next two weeks and remember: Confidence is the most attractive trait of all!
Mercury will be in a loose conjunction with the New Moon (13° apart) and under the Sun’s beams, so whatever new beginnings are unfolding in our lives, we won’t be keen to “brag” or share them immediately with others, or we’re delaying our communication because we’re missing the needed info to get the full picture of the situation. In all cases, the trine to Jupiter promises luck and long-lasting success!
Using Nikola Stojanovic’s degree theory, 5 degrees is the Leo degree, so this New Moon will truly give us the blessed opportunity for new beginnings in all the above-mentioned Leo-ruled topics! And remember, whatever seeds you’re planting on this New Moon, you’ll reap their rewards on the next Full Moon in Leo on February 5th, 2023!
This New Moon will be felt most intensely by Leo, Scorpio, Aquarius, and Taurus. Especially those of you who have your Sun, Moon, Ascendant, Descendant, Midheaven, IC or any other important planet or point in your chart around 5° of these signs (give or take 2-3 degrees).
b) Jupiter stations retrograde:
Also, on Thursday, July 28th, you may decide to pump the brakes in other areas of life. Bountiful Jupiter flips into its annual four-month retrograde, putting a halt to fast-moving progress. The red-spotted planet has been speeding through daring Aries since May 10th, inspiring everyone to dive into new adventures. By now, your head may be spinning from all your discoveries! Before an exhilarating ride turns into a collision course, make a pit stop. Utilise this forced slowdown to analyse early results. Are you progressing in the right direction? Making the impact you hoped to? Ask for honest feedback (and don’t get mad if people don’t tell you exactly what you want to hear). Advance notice: On October 28th, retrograde Jupiter backs into Pisces, drawing a more spiritual and creative dimension into all these plans. You might even take a pilgrimage then to learn about a lost art or to get in tune with a deeper realm of your own imagination!
Jupiter’s retrograde will be most impactful for Aries, Libra, Cancer, Capricorn, Pisces, Virgo, Gemini, and Sagittarius.
3. The Grand Triple Conjunction of Mars, Uranus and the North Node in Taurus:
And the most significant astrological event of the year takes place this Sunday, July 31st, at 9:05 PM (CET), when Mars, Uranus and the North Node will form a cluster in 17°-18° of Taurus! The energy has been building up ever since the Nodes entered Taurus and Scorpio in January 2022. The last time we’ve seen this same major alignment was over 2,300 years ago, in 325 B.C., during the rise of Alexander the Great, who started the Hellenistic era and linked Europe to Asia through trade (the famous silk road)! The next time this same conjunction will happen will be in 2357, so this is indeed a once-in-a-lifetime astrological alignment!
This triple conjunction can be compared to the combination of fire, electricity, and an amplifier creating a massive irruption! The energy will be lethal from now until the end of August! So, let’s break down this celestial event, shall we?
First off, it is essential to remind you that Uranus has been transiting Taurus (its fall position) since 2018 and that the last time it took a long stroll in this sign was from 1934 until 1942 (during the Great Depression and WWII). If we look back at the world events that have occurred since 2018, we can clearly see the similarity between both cycles. Uranus rules sudden changes, revolutions, and technological and scientific inventions. In Taurus, the disruption has been happening and will continue to occur in our finances, natural resources (that grow above the ground) and farms, food, self-worth, and material values.
Before getting into the details of the current conjunction, I’d like to list a few key events of the last Mars/Uranus/North Node conjunction in Taurus in 325 B.C., which are the following:
- Alexander the Great left India and nominated his officer Peithon, son of Agenor, as the satrap of the region around the Indus;
- Alexander the Great ordered his admiral, Nearchus, to sail from the Hydaspes River in western India to the Persian Gulf and up the Euphrates River to Babylon while Alexander’s army started marching through Gedrosia (Baluchistan);
- While returning to Persia, Alexander’s army ran into the Malli clans (in modern-day Multan). The ensuing battle severely weakened his army. Alexander sent much of his remaining army to Carmania (modern southern Iran) with his general Craterus, while he led the rest of his forces back to Persia by the southern route through the Gedrosian Desert (now part of southern Iran and Makran in southern Pakistan).
By the end of the year, Alexander’s army reached Persepolis, while his navy, under Nearchus, reached Susa at around the same time; - The first known reference to sugar cane appeared in writings by Alexander the Great’s admiral Nearchus, who wrote of Indian reeds “that produce honey, although there are no bees”.
As you can see, the last time this same exact conjunction happened, the energy was steeped in military conquests (Mars), the creation of a new large-scale (North Node equals an increase) trade network (the silk road) – networks are ruled by Uranus – and the discovery of new exotic types of food (Uranus again).
The conjunction that will become exact on July 31st will most likely manifest as a negative catalyst event in the news. Why is that? For several reasons: Mars and Uranus are in the sign of their detriment and fall, respectively (Taurus), meaning the lower manifestations of their energies (aggression and destruction) are enhanced and heightened by the North Node joining in. Moreover, 18° is a diabolical degree (Mikhail Kalashnikov, the inventor of the world’s best semi-automatic gun (the AK-47), which has been used to kill millions of people, had his Mars in 18° of Virgo), adding to the negativity. It’s also the Virgo degree, so the themes of Taurus will overlap with the Virgo topics, which are: health and healthcare systems, the labour market (unemployment is most likely to keep rising, and we’ll have to find new ways to earn money), the medical industry, being of service (the Food & Beverages industry or any business falling under the service sector).
Mars will be in 17° of Taurus, the Leo degree, so to the areas mentioned above, we should add the entertainment industry, schools and children, sports and athletes, world leaders, tourism, art, and the luxury industry.
All of this put together, we can expect negative events giving way to positive innovation in these fields. Some of the possible manifestations are: high levels of anxiety, stress, anger, impulsivity, losing money through risky financial ventures, the rise of inflation, food shortages, and natural disasters (especially earthquakes, volcanic irruptions, and plane crashes). So be careful!
The Grand conjunction will be squaring Saturn retrograde at 22° (the Capricorn degree) of Aquarius, re-activating the Saturn/Uranus square (the battle between the old and the new) that was ongoing during all of 2021, manifesting as lockdowns, health passports, travel restrictions, worldwide protests, attempts to regulate cryptocurrencies and all kinds of digital governmental control. This square will become exact again this October, so fasten your seatbelts! It should be mentioned that the monkeypox has already been declared a global health emergency by the WHO, so you can clearly see where we’re headed yet again.
The digitalisation of money will be popularised but regulated by governments (square to Saturn), which will trigger a massive backlash from people. Inflation will be kept under control as we’ve been seeing with the Federal Reserve and the European Central Bank raising their interest rates; the same goes for natural resources and food shortages (energy ministers from E.U. countries have already reached a deal on an unprecedented energy plan that will introduce a voluntary 15% reduction in gas consumption across the bloc from now until next spring). Also, travel restrictions (prohibition to enter the territory without a negative Covid test) have been reimposed in France through legislation in case new dangerous Covid variants emerge.
The way we communicate and use social media platforms will be altered and further controlled dramatically as well since the conjunction will be making a T-square (very challenging configuration) to Saturn retrograde in Aquarius and Mercury in Leo.
The F&B sector has already been suffering from the great resignation. Over the past few weeks, we’ve seen more and more shortages of certain foods (e.g. the Dijon mustard in France) due to the economic crisis, governmental action and/or inaction (square to Saturn), but also natural disasters. Such shortages may push experimenting with artificial or genetically modified foods (Uranus & North Node influence) and sharing our food through apps and private gardening (trine to the Moon in 12° of Virgo and sextile to Venus (ruler of the conjunction) in Cancer). Venus will also be in conjunction with the spiritual star Sirius, so we’ll still be grounded in spiritual values. Venus in 16° of Cancer (Cancer degree) enhances the healing and nurturing Cancerian energy that encourages us to maintain family ties. The sextile to Venus also gives the opportunity to generate more value through delayed gratification.
People will form new communities and become more generous (the conjunction is in a sextile to Neptune in Pisces); new medical inventions based on natural resources (plants and naturopathic methods being further introduced into the medical industry) will also be highlighted.
Don’t forget that the South Node in Scorpio is opposing this triple conjunction indicating a much-needed purge of negativity personally and collectively. On a mundane level, this suggests a sudden decrease in hedge funds, underground resources (oil, gas), bank loans, savings, investments and stock markets, public/government money, pensions, taxes, and other people’s resources in general. Various apps against food waste have been coming up (e.g. the “Too Good to Go” app): Scorpio rules all kinds of purging and elimination systems. Taurus rules anything growing above the ground, such as plants and coal (we’ve been seeing a rise in the re-use of coal in the E.U. as a direct result of the energy crisis due to the Russia/Ukraine war), so we’ll be probably heading towards these types of sustainable sources of energy (air, water, etc.).
The economic and financial crisis has been causing and will continue to cause major protests worldwide (same energy as during the Great Depression). As for natural disasters, the horrendous fires in France and Spain over the past week have been one of the prominent manifestations of this conjunction. Industrial, electronic, and digital accidents such as cyberattacks are on the table too.
Moreover, there’s the possibility of inventing new weapons and the escalation of armed conflicts (Mars rules weaponry and war, and the 18th degree is diabolical, as we mentioned earlier).
On the more positive side, we’ll be witnessing new trends and technological inventions in fashion, beauty, money, art, and natural resources. Keep an eye on any new viral trends and get on the wave to benefit from them!
Indeed, Uranus and the North Node conjoin every 15 years, so if we take a look at the last few conjunctions, we can clearly see the pattern of revolutionary technological advancements and a fight for freedom, such as:
- The technological boom of Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, and the iPhone during the Uranus/North Node conjunction in Pisces of March 2007;
- Yugoslavia was dissolved; NASA’s Galileo spacecraft made its closest approach to 951 Gaspra, becoming the first probe to visit an asteroid; alternative rock saw a new height of popularity when some of the earliest music exponents of the virtually unknown grunge sound were released, including the influential Nevermind album by Seattle-based band Nirvana, the worldwide web was publicly launched during the Uranus/North Node conjunction in Capricorn of October 1991;
- The Muppet Show was broadcast for the first time on ITV; the space shuttle Enterprise was rolled out of a Palmdale, California hangar, Ford officially launched volume production of the Fiesta car at its Valencia plant; James Hunt won a very political Formula One World Championship by just 1 point driving a McLaren M23-D as rival Niki Lauda retired from the Japanese Grand Prix due to heavy rain, during the Uranus/North Node conjunction in Scorpio of September 1976;
- Nuclear testing: Operation Crossroads, a series of nuclear weapon tests conducted by the United States at Bikini Atoll in Micronesia, was initiated by the detonation of Able at an altitude of 520 feet; the bikini was first modelled in Paris; Italy was declared a Republic; The International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) (World Bank) began operations, during the Uranus/North node conjunction in Gemini of July 1946.
On a personal level, sudden material rise in life, powerful realisations, flashes of insight, spiritual awakenings, shifting in values, and breakthroughs from long-lasting burdensome situations are possible manifestations of this conjunction.
This Grand conjunction will be the most consequential for Taurus, Leo, Aquarius, and Scorpio.

There’s no one here they want to hang around
But if they knew
If they knew you at all
Then one by one the angels
Angels would fall”. Angels Would Fall by Melissa Etheridge.
Wishing you the ultimate breakthrough for this week!
