Dear NightFall Astrology readers,
The coming week beckons with a blend of mental acumen and quiet reflection, a celestial landscape where razor-sharp wit finds its counterpoint in rooted wisdom. Mercury in Virgo forms a harmonious trine with Jupiter retrograde in Taurus, marking a confluence of intellect and prudence, meticulous attention to detail and a subtle, yet powerful, expansion of understanding.
As the Full Moon rises in the pioneering sign of Aries, it adds a mandate to pull back, take stock, and recalibrate. Here, the focus shifts from external dynamics to internal priorities, urging a tactical retreat to navigate the landscapes of your life more effectively.
This celestial script is ripe for self-discovery, compelling introspection, and perhaps, the turning of a new leaf in both thought and action. Dive into the intricate details of these alignments to unearth what the stars have in store for you!
I. Mercury trines Jupiter:
From September 23rd to the 26th, peaking precisely on the 25th, Mercury in Virgo forms a trine with Jupiter retrograde in Taurus. This celestial configuration is noteworthy, serving as a marker for a period where intellectual clarity may intersect with a broadening of perspective. In this alignment, meticulous detail meets expansive wisdom, potentially leading to beneficial dialogue and robust reasoning.
In this period, Mercury is not just in its domicile but also in its exaltation sign of Virgo, accentuating its natural attributes. This suggests a heightened focus on analytical and methodical thought, leading to precise communication and comprehensive understanding. The time becomes ripe for a masterful approach to details, as the planet’s position in Virgo showcases traits that are systematic, practical, and discerning.
On the other hand, Jupiter, although retrograde in Taurus, emphasizes patience, material well-being, and a grounded form of expansion. The retrograde motion denotes a period for internal reflection rather than outward advance, offering a reassessment of growth and wisdom. Jupiter, the planet traditionally associated with prosperity, suggests a cautious approach toward evaluating one’s values and material assets.
The trine, an aspect synonymous with ease and flow, indicates that the qualities of Virgo and Taurus may integrate harmoniously. Mercury’s keen discernment and Jupiter’s wisdom find themselves in a natural alignment, presenting an opportunity for a richer understanding that marries both depth and breadth. This could manifest in a variety of ways, such as a period of nuanced judgement in professional matters, an advantageous time for academic endeavours, or a general expansion of one’s ethical or personal horizons without a sacrifice in detail.
In summary, the trine between Mercury in Virgo and Jupiter retrograde in Taurus signifies a period where mental sharpness and prudent growth may align harmoniously. Whether this becomes a pivotal moment or simply a time for introspection depends on individual circumstances, but it certainly offers a potential for judicious thinking and beneficial insights.
This transit will be most beneficial for Taurus, Virgo, and Capricorn placements.
II. Full Moon in Aries:
This Full Moon in Aries serves as a call to focus on oneself, sidestepping external dramas and distractions. The celestial event provides an opportunity to align one’s priorities and perhaps even refine one’s approach to challenges and conflicts. It’s also a wrapping up, release and/or culmination of a situation that has started in your life around the last New Moon in Aries (which was also a Solar Eclipse, so the symbolism here is even more potent) that took place on April 20th, 2023.
Set for September 29th, 2023, at 11:57 AM (CET), this Full Moon is noteworthy for its astrological particulars. The Sun will be positioned at six degrees of Libra, while the Moon will be at an identical six degrees in Aries. Both heavenly bodies are situated in the first decan of their respective zodiac signs, adding layers of meaning to their inherent traits.
Within this celestial setup, the Moon occupies the first decan of Aries, linked with the Two of Wands tarot card and under the rule of Mars. Aries, characterised by its martial aspects influenced by Mars—the planet of action, aggression, and initiation—imbues the Full Moon with an assertive, if not combative, tone. The focus here is less about assured victory and more about a state of readiness, courage, and the drive to act decisively when the situation calls for it.
In contrast, the Sun finds its place in the first decan of Libra, which correlates with the Two of Swords tarot card and is ruled by the Moon. Libra, steered by Venus, and this specific decan, governed by the Moon, both lean towards a more passive, conflict-avoidant approach. Venus and the Moon seek harmony and emotional equilibrium, respectively, often preferring to sidestep direct confrontations.

Essentially, this is a celebration of focusing on what we can control and distancing ourselves from the drama of others. It doesn’t indicate a significant confrontation or a change in dynamics; rather, it emphasises our pursuit of what we can control, what empowers us, and what is truly meaningful. The aim is not to be entangled in the nonsense of others that we often feel obligated to tiptoe around to maintain peace.
The Sun in Libra in this celestial event is tightly conjunct with Pallas, an asteroid I seldom mention unless it forms a conjunction. Pallas represents feminine, delicate knowledge, particularly related to literature or the healing arts. This energy resonates with a disposition to avoid conflict and to mind one’s own business.
Interestingly, the Full Moon itself forms no challenging aspects to other planets by degree, suggesting a ‘clean break’ from the drama or issues of others. This is less about causing a scene and more about an uninhibited release of what is beyond our control, choosing instead to maintain our internal peace rather than being caught up in the turbulence affecting others.
Mars, the ruling planet of this Full Moon, finds itself in Libra, positioned on the South Node. Mars is naturally a planet of action and aggression, but in Libra, it is in its antithesis, the opposite sign from the one it rules, thereby indicating discomfort or being out of its element. This condition, known as ‘Exile’ in astrological terms, points to a passive-aggressive energy that reiterates the avoidant nature of this Full Moon. Being on the South Node suggests a release or letting go, further indicating that instead of trying to negotiate or mediate, we’re more inclined to release the need to control the situation.
Additionally, Mars is opposite Chiron. When Chiron is in aspect, it often points to a triggered vulnerability or a soft spot that feels aggravated. Here, our decision to stand independent and not immerse ourselves in resolving other people’s conflicts could be triggering because it’s a pattern we may have fallen into before. This Full Moon presents an opportunity to act differently and avoid that habitual trap.
Venus is exactly squaring Uranus at 22 degrees, with Venus in Leo and now in direct motion. This square represents the final disruptive moment in relationships that we will no longer tolerate. This is the third and final Venus-Uranus square, following ones in July and August, culminating at the end of September into October. Essentially, this is the final straw in a chaotic relationship dynamic. The sentiment is clear: we’re no longer willing to engage with this disruptive energy; it’s drama we no longer wish to partake in.
Interestingly, Venus is also conjunct Juno, an asteroid associated with marriage, union, and bonding. The bond itself is disrupted; however, given that this Full Moon doesn’t appear particularly challenging, I would speculate that the focus is not on your relationship. Instead, it may pertain to another relationship dynamic that you’ve decided to steer clear of, considering it too complicated for your involvement.
Meanwhile, Jupiter will be conjunct Uranus in Taurus, albeit not closely by degree. This background energy prevailing through September and October indicates a positive breakthrough and a general sense of optimism about how sudden changes could be beneficial. Mercury, in its home sign of Virgo where it is exalted, will also be trining Jupiter and Uranus in Taurus. This configuration allows for effective communication and the articulation of positive breakthroughs.
However, Mercury is opposite Neptune in Pisces, which introduces an element of confusion and detachment from reality. Even though Mercury in Virgo lends conciseness and eloquence to communication, the opposition to Neptune suggests that messages could be misunderstood or misconstrued. While I don’t see this escalating into a major issue, it is likely to introduce a level of fuzziness into interactions.
In summary, this Full Moon serves as a celestial indicator of independence and emancipation from the drama of others. The focus is on choosing your own path and making your well-being a priority. Various astrological aspects, from Venus’s square to Uranus to Mercury’s opposition to Neptune, add nuance and complexity to this overarching theme.

This Full Moon will be felt most intensely by Aries, Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn, particularly if you have planets and/or important chart points around 6 degrees of these signs (give or take 1-5 degrees).
