This eclipse will occur on 29 March 2025 at 12:58 PM CET. Eclipses happen when a new or full moon aligns with the lunar nodes. The North Node signifies growth and increase, while the South Node denotes decrease or release. As this solar eclipse aligns with the North Node, it highlights a major new beginning related to expansion, progress, and advancement.

This particular eclipse can be described as a powerful new moon—a “new moon on steroids”—since it occurs as a solar eclipse, marking a substantial and dramatic new start. Given its position on the North Node, it underscores significant growth, advancement, and the development of something meaningful. Had it aligned with the South Node, it would symbolise new beginnings linked to letting go or generosity. However, this eclipse emphasises personal interests, self-investment, and cultivating something you deeply value.

Over the past year and a half, with the North Node in Aries, eclipses primarily focused on individualism, personal desires, and independent interests. Since January, the North Node has shifted into Pisces, suggesting that current growth and progression are guided by spirituality, emotional fulfilment, or motivations rooted in faith, religion, or philosophical insight. This shift marks a transition away from purely self-centred pursuits toward broader, spiritually meaningful objectives.

Although the North Node remains in Pisces, this eclipse occurs in Aries, making it an out-of-sign eclipse. Nonetheless, it remains within an influential range, indicating that the new beginning and substantial progress involve self-interest and independence, continuing themes of the past two years. The larger underlying motivation now drives us toward spiritual goals and greater meaning beyond individual interests.

Currently, the Sun and Moon are in Aries, but Saturn, Venus, the North Node, and Neptune reside in Pisces, creating a strong Pisces-Aries emphasis. Venus is retrograde, as is Mercury, which introduces considerable reflective energy, prompting us to reconsider our priorities, personal investments, and how these align with broader spiritual aspirations.

The Sun and Moon are positioned at 9 degrees of Aries, notably the exact degree where Mercury stationed retrograde earlier this month, on 15 March. Mercury’s recent retrograde station at this precise degree suggests a period of reassessment, reconsideration, or revisiting prior plans, communications, or decisions. With the solar eclipse occurring at this same critical point, it signals a powerful alignment that underscores the necessity of thoughtful reflection before taking bold action or initiating new undertakings.

Occupying the first decan of Aries, which is traditionally governed by Mars—the natural ruler of Aries—this placement emphasises themes of initiation, courage, assertiveness, and the drive to engage with new challenges. Mars embodies action, bravery, and ambition, suggesting that this eclipse period invites careful yet confident strides forward, encouraging strategic planning and preparedness. It indicates a readiness to face upcoming challenges and pursue objectives with renewed clarity, especially following the reflective period triggered by Mercury’s retrograde.

Therefore, this solar eclipse at 9 degrees Aries symbolises a pivotal moment, merging the need for contemplation brought by Mercury’s recent station retrograde with the proactive and pioneering energies associated with Mars. It serves as an invitation to approach new beginnings with a balanced blend of careful consideration and determined action.

With Pisces heavily emphasised—particularly through Saturn symbolising seriousness and commitment, the North Node indicating targeted growth, Venus exalted and retrograde prompting a deep reassessment of personal values, and Neptune at the critical 29th anaretic degree highlighting profound spiritual aspirations—these factors significantly shape current motivations and key life decisions.

Meanwhile, the Sun, Moon, and Mercury retrograde in Aries emphasise immediate responses and daily decisions driven by personal interests that are independently determined and critically important to the individual. The Pisces stellium—comprising Saturn, Venus retrograde, the North Node, and Neptune—is forming a supportive trine with Mars in Cancer, the sign of Mars’s fall. Additionally, this Pisces stellium is in a harmonious sextile with Uranus in Taurus, which also receives a positive sextile from Mars in Cancer. Together, these interactions form a minor grand trine, with Uranus in Taurus positioned at the apex. According to traditional Hellenistic astrology, Mars in Cancer typically signifies tension, emotional volatility, and challenge due to its position of fall. The previous occurrence of a similar solar eclipse at 9 degrees Aries took place on 29 March 2006, providing insight into potential repeating themes and geopolitical developments approximately 19 years later. Examining global events from 2006 may shed light on the possible implications of the current eclipse occurring on 29 March 2025.

In the wake of the 2006 eclipse, notable geopolitical and humanitarian crises emerged. Venezuela witnessed mass protests sparked by violent kidnappings, highlighting civil unrest and governmental instability. Iran intensified its nuclear programme, producing enriched uranium and consequently heightening international tensions, which resonates deeply given the continued regional instabilities of 2024–2025. The breakdown of diplomatic negotiations between Iran and Russia at that time parallels current strained international alliances.

Natural disasters, such as the devastating Yogyakarta earthquake in Indonesia, underscored the vulnerability of infrastructures and governments to sudden catastrophic events. Additionally, geopolitical shifts occurred in the Balkans, as Montenegro declared independence from Serbia, ending a longstanding union and redrawing European borders. Such events illustrate the eclipse’s potential to catalyse significant political restructuring.

Critically, the 2006 eclipse directly preceded the intensification of conflict in the Middle East. Israel launched military operations in Gaza following Hamas rocket attacks, a scenario strikingly reminiscent of ongoing, unresolved Israel-Hamas conflicts since September 2024. Furthermore, the Israeli invasion of Lebanon due to Hezbollah’s aggression in July 2006 parallels the escalating and unresolved Israel-Hezbollah conflict that emerged alongside the Israel-Hamas war in 2024. On a personal level, this eclipse encourages us to reflect upon areas in life where decisive, courageous action and thoughtful reconsideration intersect. III. Neptune enters Aries:

On 30 March, Neptune will transition into Aries after its extended sojourn of 14 years in Pisces, having occupied the sign since 2011. This marks Neptune’s first ingress into Aries, where it will briefly remain until retrograding back into Pisces one final time on 22 October. Neptune will subsequently settle firmly into Aries from 26 January 2026 until 23 March 2039—a notable 13-year period. During 2025, Neptune will only advance to 2 degrees of Aries before stationing retrograde on 5 July.

Neptune’s previous transit through Aries occurred from 1862 to 1875, an era marked by significant global upheaval, innovation, and ideological fervour. Reflecting historically, this was the period of the American Civil War (1861–1865), which profoundly reshaped societal structures and prompted widespread reconsideration of national identity and individual rights. Additionally, this transit coincided with the unification of Germany under Otto von Bismarck (1871), reshaping the European geopolitical landscape through decisive, assertive nationalism—a concept befitting the fiery assertiveness of Aries.
