Happy New Astrological Year! Spring equinox weekly horoscope (March 15th-21st)

Ever wondered why on earth would a New Year start on January 1st, in the middle of winter? When everything is grey, dead, and cold?

Well, that’s because the calendar we’ve been now following for hundreds of years (the Julian calendar named after Julius Caeser, who proposed it and was later on amended into the Gregorian calendar currently used in the Western World) doesn’t match Nature’s and Universe’s cycles. It’s made for mundane/everyday affairs. When do things REALLY start over again, bloom? SPRING: the season that starts with the spring equinox and the Sun entering the Cardinal sign of Aries. The Cardinal signs are all about initiating new beginnings; that’s why every season starts with one. Spring starts with Aries, Summer with Cancer, Autumn with Libra, and Winter with Capricorn.

So what does this exciting week hold for us?

• On March 15th, Mercury – the planet of communication, perception, mental processes, short-distance travel, neighbours and immediate environments – moves from the highly innovative and intellectual air sign of Aquarius and enters the dreamy water sign of Pisces. You guessed it; this shifts our minds radically from a laser focus to more of a distracted/daydreaming state. So, all of us should pay particular attention to the clarity of our communications and thoughts. Don’t rush into replying to emails/texts/messages without re-reading them and double-checking everything. The same goes for reviewing and signing any documents and buying means of transportation, such as a new car. Mercury will stay in Pisces until April 4th.

This period is particularly delicate for the signs of Sagittarius, Gemini, and Virgo. They should watch out for any lack of clarity in communications and decision-making.

We also have, alongside Mercury, the Sun, Venus and Neptune in Pisces. This stellium (3 planets or more) in Pisces can make things foggier than usual for these signs.

Cancers and Scorpios, and to some extent, Capricorns and Tauruses can benefit from this energy for networking, spicing their communications up, planning meetings and trips, and experiencing more compassion and empathy in their relationships. 

• From March 15th till March 16th, the Sun in Pisces will be sextiling (a harmonious aspect that becomes exact on March 16th) Pluto in Capricorn. This is a gorgeous day for making a long-lasting change, transforming and shaking up stagnant situations, especially in business and administrative affairs.

This aspect will be the most positive for the signs of Pisces, Scorpio, Taurus, and Capricorn. 

• On March 18th, Mars in Gemini will be sextiling Chiron (the wounded healer) in Aries. This is a harmonious and positive aspect for healing parts of our identity through communication. It will be beneficial for Aries, Leo, Sagittarius, Gemini, and Aquarius. 

Also, on this day, Venus in Pisces (her exalted position) will be sextiling Pluto in Capricorn. Money and relationship matters will be at the forefront of this energy. It can bring good opportunities (for those who are willing to seize them) for healing relationship problems and gaining in our careers and finances for the long term.

The signs that will benefit the most from this energy are Capricorn, Taurus, Virgo, Pisces, and Scorpio. 

• March 20th marks the astrological New Year with the Sun entering Aries! It will be immediately followed the next day (March 21st) by Venus entering the same sign. This is a perfect day to take action and start anything new! The Sun and Venus will remain in this sign until mid-April.

The signs that are boosted the most by this transit are the fire signs: Aries, Leo, Sagittarius. 

• On March 21st, Mars in Gemini will be trining (harmonious aspect) Saturn in Aquarius. This will awaken our drive for long-lasting success, especially in innovative and intellectual areas. Any new project that we start on this day will have sustainable results and will develop quickly (air energy).

This day is particularly auspicious for Aquariuses, Geminis, Libras and, to some extent, Aries and Leos. The trick here is to approach things pragmatically without rushing them too much.

Use this week to finally start working on projects that you’ve been putting off for weeks, months, years!
